The Arts in Medicine (AIM) Collective is thrilled to launch our inaugural Art Challenge and invite students to explore and engage with medicine and health-related topics through the arts. The theme, “Health Heroes in Action,” encourages students to celebrate everyday heroes working tirelessly to promote our physical, mental, emotional, and social health and well-being.
Whether it’s local pediatricians caring for kids, researchers advancing life-saving treatments, or a first responder showing up in emergencies, these heroes make a profound impact on our communities and well-being. Through art, we hope to share their stories and highlight their incredible contributions to our health and healing.
Together, let’s shine a light on the heroes who inspire health and healing in our communities. We can’t wait to see your creativity in action!
Getting Ready
Who Can Participate?
Our art challenge is open to students aged 5 to 22 worldwide.
Students may enter independently or through their school, homeschool, or art studio.
Submissions will be evaluated in the following Age Categories:
- 5-8 years (Children)
- 9-12 years (Youth)
- 13-17 years (Teens)
- 18-22 years (Young Adults)
Artwork Specifications
Artwork must be the contestant’s original creation – any submission that is an exact replica of another person’s work (including photographs, artwork, etc.) or AI generated will be disqualified. Submissions also cannot depict any copyrighted materials.
Any visual art that can be captured as a still digital image, including paintings, sculptures, mixed media, drawings, collages, and digital mediums, can be submitted. There are no required size specifications for the work.
Artwork must be free of any signatures or initials.
Rules & Guidelines
Artworks must align with the theme: “Healthcare Heroes in Action.”
Participants must include a short blurb (100-200 words) describing their inspiration and the hero depicted.
Each participant may submit one artwork to each art challenge.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Creativity
- Originality
- Design and Quality
- Theme Alignment
Submissions are due by May 8, 2025, 11:59 pm EST.
Prizes and Recognition
Selected participants will have the opportunity to have their work:
- Featured online and published with other participant work.
- Displayed in hospitals, clinics, and community settings worldwide.
Submission Process
Ensure your submission adheres to all the above guidelines.
Complete the online entry form and upload your artwork. If you are taking a picture of your work, please keep the following tips in mind:
- Use a high resolution camera (it can be a phone camera). Photos should be between 3 and 10 MB in size.
- Take the photo under indirect light to minimize glare.
- Take the photo as straight on as possible to prevent any distortion.
- Check to make sure your image is not blurry.
